Sichuan Airlines

Sichuan Airlines is not a member of any major airline alliance. The airline operates independently and focuses primarily on domestic Chinese routes, with growing international service to Southeast Asia, Australia, and select European destinations from its Chengdu base.

Sichuan Airlines' primary hub is Chengdu Tianfu International Airport (TFU), the newer of Chengdu's two airports. The airline also operates from Chengdu Shuangliu (CTU), Chongqing Jiangbei (CKG), and Kunming Changshui (KMG) airports in southwest China.

Sichuan Airlines offers Business Class and Economy Class. On its Airbus A350 wide-body aircraft used for long-haul routes, Business Class features lie-flat seats. Domestic routes on Airbus A320 family aircraft offer a standard two-class configuration.

Economy Class passengers on Sichuan Airlines domestic flights are allowed one free checked bag up to 20 kg. International Economy fares include one bag at 23 kg. Business Class passengers receive a higher allowance of up to 32 kg on international flights.

Sichuan Airlines Flight 8633 in 2018 became internationally famous when the cockpit windshield shattered at 32,000 feet, and the captain successfully landed the Airbus A319 in Chengdu with no fatalities. The incident was dramatized in the 2019 Chinese film 'The Captain' and is considered one of aviation's remarkable emergency landings.
