Formosa Airlines

Formosa Airlines did not belong to any airline alliance. The Taiwanese regional carrier operated independently until it was merged with TransAsia Airways in 1999. Formosa Airlines primarily served domestic Taiwanese routes and short international flights.

Formosa Airlines operated from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport and various domestic Taiwanese airports. The airline connected Taipei with smaller Taiwanese cities and outlying islands, providing essential regional air service.

Formosa Airlines operated a single Economy class cabin on its fleet of regional aircraft including Saab 340s and Dornier 228s. The airline focused on short domestic hops between Taiwan's cities and islands.

Formosa Airlines included standard checked baggage allowances typical of Taiwanese domestic carriers at the time. As a regional airline operating small aircraft, baggage weight restrictions were important due to the limited cargo capacity.

Formosa Airlines ceased operations in 1999 when it was merged into TransAsia Airways. The merger was driven by consolidation in Taiwan's domestic airline market, as the island had numerous small carriers competing on limited routes. TransAsia itself later ceased operations in 2016.
