Ethiopian Airlines

Ethiopian Airlines, founded in 1945 with the assistance of Trans World Airlines and headquartered in Addis Ababa, is the flag carrier of Ethiopia and the largest airline in Africa by fleet size, revenue, and passengers carried. As a member of the Star Alliance, Ethiopian Airlines operates its hub at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, which the carrier has developed into Africa's leading aviation hub for connecting traffic. The airline serves over 130 destinations worldwide, including an extensive intra-African network that is unmatched by any other carrier on the continent. Ethiopian Airlines' fleet of over 130 aircraft includes Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 Dreamliner, Boeing 777-300ER and 777-200LR, Airbus A350-900, Boeing 737 MAX 8, and De Havilland Dash 8-400 for regional services. The airline's cabin products include Cloud Nine Business Class with lie-flat seats and Economy Class. Ethiopian Airlines operates the Ethiopian Aviation Academy, one of the largest aviation training facilities in Africa, and a major MRO center that provides maintenance services for airlines across the continent. ShebaMiles is the airline's loyalty program with Star Alliance earning and redemption. The airline is wholly state-owned and managed as a commercial enterprise, a model that has made it one of the most consistently profitable airlines in Africa. Ethiopian Airlines has expanded through investments in and partnerships with other African carriers, including stakes in airlines in Malawi, Guinea, Chad, Mozambique, and Zambia, pursuing a pan-African connectivity strategy.
