Asiana Airlines

Asiana Airlines, founded in 1988 and headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, was the country's second-largest airline before its acquisition by Korean Air, completed in 2024. As a member of the Star Alliance, Asiana operated its hub at Incheon International Airport with domestic services from Gimpo Airport. The airline's fleet included Airbus A380, Airbus A350-900, Boeing 777-200ER, Airbus A330, and Airbus A321neo aircraft. Asiana's cabin products included First Class on the A380 with luxury suites, Business Smartium with lie-flat seats, Travel Economy with additional legroom, and Economy. The airline was consistently recognized by Skytrax, winning the Airline of the Year award and multiple best cabin crew accolades for its refined Korean service style. Asiana Club, the airline's loyalty program, offered Star Alliance-wide earning and redemption options. The airline operated extensive services across Asia, with a strong network to Japan, China, Southeast Asia, and Central Asia, alongside long-haul routes to the United States, Europe, and Oceania. Asiana was known for its high-quality in-flight service, including Korean bibimbap as a signature economy class dish served in a traditional stone bowl. Following years of financial difficulties at its parent company Kumho Asiana Group, the airline was sold to Korean Air's parent Hanjin Group. The integration process involves fleet rationalization, route optimization, and eventual brand consolidation under the Korean Air name, bringing together South Korea's two largest carriers.
