Czech Airlines

Czech Airlines, known locally as Ceske aerolinie and commonly abbreviated as CSA, was founded in 1923 and headquartered in Prague, making it one of the oldest airlines in the world. The airline operated its hub at Vaclav Havel Airport Prague, serving destinations across Europe and select long-haul markets. Czech Airlines was a member of the SkyTeam alliance. The airline's fleet historically included Airbus A330 aircraft for long-haul services and Airbus A320 family aircraft and ATR 72 turboprops for European and regional routes. The airline's cabin products included Business Class and Economy Class. Czech Airlines held a prestigious place in Central European aviation history, having operated one of the world's oldest continuous commercial air services. The OK Plus frequent flyer program offered SkyTeam earning and redemption options. Czech Airlines experienced decades of financial difficulties following the end of communism and the Czech Republic's transition to a market economy. The airline underwent multiple restructurings and ownership changes, eventually being acquired by Smartwings Group, a Czech private carrier. Under Smartwings ownership, Czech Airlines' operations were progressively scaled back. The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the airline's decline, and operations were largely suspended. While the Czech Airlines brand retains historical significance, the carrier's independent future remains uncertain, with some operations absorbed into the Smartwings network.
