Volaris

Volaris, founded in 2005 and headquartered in Mexico City, is an ultra-low-cost carrier and the largest airline in Mexico by passengers carried on domestic routes. The airline operates major bases at Mexico City International Airport, Guadalajara International Airport, Tijuana International Airport, and Cancun International Airport. Volaris' fleet consists exclusively of Airbus A320 and A321neo aircraft, configured in high-density single-class layouts. The airline's business model mirrors that of Spirit Airlines and Ryanair, offering the lowest possible base fares while charging separately for carry-on bags, checked bags, seat selection, and other services. Volaris serves an extensive domestic network within Mexico alongside a significant transborder operation to the United States, with routes to cities including Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Oakland, and San Jose. The airline also operates international routes to Central American countries including Guatemala, El Salvador, and Costa Rica through its Volaris Costa Rica and Volaris El Salvador subsidiaries. V.Club is the airline's subscription program offering discounted fares for an annual fee. Volaris does not belong to any global airline alliance. The airline has been instrumental in growing the Mexican domestic aviation market, attracting passengers who previously traveled by bus for long-distance journeys within Mexico. Volaris is listed on the New York Stock Exchange and the Mexican Stock Exchange. The carrier has maintained profitability through disciplined cost management and a focus on underserved routes.
