TAP Air Portugal, founded in 1945 and headquartered in Lisbon, is the flag carrier of Portugal and a member of the Star Alliance. The airline operates its hub at Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon, which the carrier has developed as a connecting point between Europe and the Americas, particularly Brazil and other Portuguese-speaking destinations. TAP's fleet includes Airbus A330-900neo, Airbus A321LR, Airbus A321neo, Airbus A320neo, and Embraer E190 and E195 aircraft. The airline's cabin products include TAP Executive business class with lie-flat seats on long-haul routes, TAP Plus premium economy, and TAP Discount economy. TAP Miles&Go is the airline's loyalty program with four status tiers. TAP was renationalized during the COVID-19 pandemic after receiving state aid and subsequently reprivatized. The airline's strategy centers on leveraging Lisbon's geographic position at the southwestern tip of Europe as a transfer hub for transatlantic and Africa-Europe traffic. Lisbon's increasing popularity as a tourist destination has also driven strong point-to-point demand on TAP's routes.
