British Airways, founded in 1974 through the merger of BOAC and BEA and headquartered in London, is the flag carrier of the United Kingdom and one of the founding members of the oneworld alliance. The airline operates its primary hub at London Heathrow Airport, the busiest airport in Europe by international passenger traffic, with additional services from London Gatwick and London City airports. British Airways operates a diverse fleet of over 250 aircraft, including Boeing 777, Boeing 787 Dreamliner, Airbus A350, Airbus A380, and Airbus A320neo family types. The airline's cabin products include First, featuring individual suites with closing doors on select aircraft; Club World business class with lie-flat seats; World Traveller Plus premium economy; and World Traveller economy. British Airways operates a network of premium lounges including the Concorde Room at Heathrow Terminal 5, exclusive to First class passengers. The Executive Club loyalty program uses Avios as its points currency, shared across the broader IAG group including Iberia, Vueling, and Aer Lingus. British Airways is a subsidiary of International Airlines Group, which also holds Iberia, Vueling, Aer Lingus, and LEVEL. The airline has a storied history in aviation, having operated the Concorde supersonic aircraft from 1976 to 2003, and continues to be one of the largest operators across the transatlantic market through its joint business agreement with American Airlines, Finnair, and Iberia.
