SKY Airline, founded in 2001 and headquartered in Santiago, Chile, is a low-cost carrier that has grown to become one of the most significant budget airlines in South America. The airline operates its primary base at Santiago Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport, with additional bases in Peru at Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima. SKY Airline's fleet consists exclusively of Airbus A320neo aircraft, chosen for their fuel efficiency and reliability on the airline's short and medium-haul network. The airline offers a simplified fare structure with a base fare and optional add-ons for baggage, seat selection, and other services, following the global low-cost carrier model. SKY Airline serves domestic destinations within Chile, connecting Santiago with cities along the country's narrow geography from Arica in the north to Punta Arenas in the far south, along with international routes to Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Colombia, and Uruguay. SKY Airline does not belong to any global airline alliance. The airline has expanded its footprint through SKY Peru, its Peruvian subsidiary that competes in Peru's growing domestic market. The carrier played a significant role in transforming Chilean domestic aviation from a market dominated by LATAM into a more competitive landscape with lower fares. SKY Airline is privately held and has maintained a focus on operational efficiency and low unit costs.
